Playmate Redux: Amy Leigh Andrews
Curious about what Miss April 2010 Amy Leigh Andrews has been up to since her Centerfold made her famous? We have answers!
“I was a burnt out in Los Angeles and needed a change of scenery so I moved to Austin, Texas, which I discovered during a Playboy golf event. I’m loving it! The culture, the music, it’s all so dominant in the city. Music is a great outlet for me, and I love the laid-back, sort of hippie vibe. It’s progressive and completely different from anywhere else in Texas. Living here is the start of a new chapter in my life.”
“Moving to Austin, I knew my next goal was to open my own clothing boutique. It’s been a dream of mine since I was young, and Austin supports independent, locally owned businesses. So it’s a great place for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
“The city’s music scene has definitely influenced my style and given me an idea as to what will be going into my boutique. I love having some feminine and trendy styles, but with so many musicians in town, I’m also influenced by rockers’ clothes. So my boutique will have an integration of style: A little hippie, a little Playmate, a little rock star, a little chic.”
“Right now, I’m listening to a lot of indie rock, like Young the Giant and Mumford & Sons. I’ve always liked good folk music, stuff that’s bluesy and acoustic. There are some local musicians that I love, too, like Wild Feathers and Jonny Gray, who was one of the top contestants on The Voice. His sound could be compared to Dave Matthews, but he’s also completely unique.”
Music Lessons “I’ve attempted to play guitar in the past but could never learn because I’m a lefty. Finally, however, I got a left-handed guitar for my birthday. I’ve been practicing and learning the basic chords, but it’s a work in progress, especially because it hurts your fingers. You really have to commit. I’m like, ‘Do I want pretty nails or do I want calloused fingers?’”
